Irene Woods is an established artist bases in County Louth. She specialises in landscape painting, much of her subject matter inspired by the beautiful scenery in the Cooley Peninsula where she works from her studio, and the surrounding areas north and south of the border.

As well as landscapes she paints well observed compositions of animals, mostly sheep and horses.  These paintings are in great demand and most are snapped up as soon as they are painted.

She also produces limited edition giclee prints of her paintings.

She works both freelance and to commission and her paintings are now included in many public and private collections in Ireland, France, UK, Norway USA and Canada.

Her work has been commissioned by such bodies as International Fund for Ireland, Louth Co. Council, Dundalk UDC, Irish Farmers Assoc, Louth Leader.

Irene has held five solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. Her work has been selected for national exhibitions including Rotary and the Oireachtas exhibition. She has exhibited in galleries in different parts of the country, but mainly prefers to deal directly with clients. Private viewings at her studio and enquiries regarding commissions are welcomed and can be arranged by appointment.

All paintings are in oil on canvas using palette knife.

Artist Statement

I have studied and painted Irish landscape in oils for many years. In my paintings, I try to capture the movement of Light, the changing colours of the seasons and the role of the people who inhabit the landscape which surrounds me.

I constantly return to favourite themes and subjects.  The appeal of the everyday has never left me, and primary sources of inspiration continue to be an important part of the whole creative process.
